The large tumbler makes it easy to keep a drink nearby at a desk or in a car. I would choose a closed bottle instead when I need something I can carry sideways in a bag.

Stories about Stanley

What is Stanley?

Stanley traces its history to William Stanley Jr.'s steel vacuum bottle in 1913. Its current range includes insulated tumblers, bottles, travel mugs and food containers for everyday routines and outdoor use. Different lid designs and capacities serve different ways of carrying and drinking. When comparing a handled tumbler with a closed bottle, check the exact lid's spill and leak guidance, the filled weight and the dimensions of your cup holder or bag. Insulation does not make every drinking vessel suitable for carrying sideways. Care instructions also depend on the model. Stanley's FAQ tells customers to check the bottom of the product for dishwasher compatibility and use the top rack when permitted. The brand says its products are not microwave safe. Consult the current instructions for your particular item, including any removable seals and straws. Brand origin and manufacturing location answer different questions. Stanley's official FAQ lists its worldwide headquarters in Seattle, Washington, and distinguishes this drinkware brand from Stanley Black & Decker. Its history begins with William Stanley Jr.'s steel vacuum bottle in 1913. For where a particular Stanley cup is made, check that product's origin marking or ask Stanley about the exact model. A 2017 official press release described PMI manufacturing facilities in China and Brazil; that historical company statement does not establish the current origin of every Stanley product. Seattle headquarters alone is not evidence that a cup was manufactured in the United States.
