The enameled cast-iron pot works for the kind of slow cooking I enjoy. It is heavy, so I would choose the size I can comfortably lift and store rather than buy the largest one available.

Stories about Le Creuset

What is Le Creuset?

Le Creuset began in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France. Its enameled cast-iron cookware remains associated with that foundry and with the orange Flame color. The wider range includes Dutch ovens, braisers and skillets as well as stoneware, stainless-steel cookware and kitchen tools. The material distinction is important: a stoneware baking dish is not interchangeable with a cast-iron pot simply because both carry the same color and brand name. Check the intended heat source and care instructions for each piece. When comparing Dutch ovens, consider capacity, empty weight, handle clearance and how much room the pot needs in your oven or cupboard. Manufacturing origin and warranty terms should be checked by product and region; the brand's French cast-iron heritage does not mean every item in its wider range is made in France.
